Director of Development

Salary: $35,000 – $40,000 (negotiable)

Under the direction of the Executive Director (ED), the Director of Development plans, directs and implements the organization’s Development programs, including the Annual Campaign, major and planned giving, grants and special events. The Director of Development is responsible for overseeing and recruiting volunteers, as well as training and coordinating volunteers for development activities. The Director of Development supervises all fundraising events and activities and will establish positive, proactive relationships with all relevant stakeholder groups, including community leadership, Board, major donors, foundations, corporate leaders, and others.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work with ED and board leadership on implementation of long-term strategic plan as it relates to fundraising and volunteer programs

• Establish goals and objectives, with expected outcomes for annual campaign – including direct mail, crowdfunding, special events, and corporate/foundation giving

• Direct all aspects of CSO annual campaign. Set realistic, achievable goals and communicate them effectively. Plan and develop campaign materials. Solicit, train and lead volunteers to assist with development efforts

• Lead the process of identification, research, cultivation, solicitation and recognition of donor prospects, working with ED and Board, for the annual campaign, planned gifts and the endowment

• Maintain prospect list, work with key volunteers and board members in prospect development

• Develop, implement and monitor an effective stewardship program for all CSO donors that includes appropriate, frequent and timely recognition, publicity and to maximizes donor retention and growth

• Develop effective targeted direct mail program, maintain database, develop appropriate reports and fund raising materials

• Create annual grant strategy and budget and identify potential sources of new grants

• In collaboration with the Executive Director, manage and facilitate internal process of grant writing, including writing and assembling grant proposals; cultivate and maintain positive relations with the NEA, Georgia Council for Arts and Columbus Cultural Arts Alliance as well as other public and private foundations

• In collaboration with the Marketing Director, oversee the development of a volunteer group, including recruitment, training and recognition

• Work with Executive Director and Finance Director on creation and implementation of annual operating budget, with oversight and responsibility for the Development budget
