Lorna Wood, Violin

Lorna Wood grew up in Oberlin, Ohio, where she studied violin with Dorothy Mauney and Richard Young. At Oberlin College she studied with Marilyn MacDonald and participated in master classes with Josef Gingold, Aaron Rosand and Cho-Liang Lin, among others. After earning a B.M. in Violin Performance and a B.A. in English, she played in the Bridgeport Symphony while completing a Ph.D. in English at Yale. For several years she was an instructor in the Auburn University English Department before turning to teaching and performing violin while raising her family. Currently, she is concertmaster of the LaGrange Symphony, as well as a member of the Columbus Symphony. She has soloed with LSO and Auburn Orchestra and performed on the Jule Collins Smith Museum recital series, “A Little Lunch Music,” and she maintains an active violin and viola studio. Lorna enjoys creative and scholarly writing.
