CSO Presents “The Thrill of the Orchestra” and “Can This Be Love?”

COLUMBUS, GA - January 24th, 2023 - The Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) presents two concerts on Friday, February 17th, 2023. Plan a Valentine’s weekend with tickets to a lovely evening of music as the CSO presents “Can This Be Love?” or join the CSO for a family matinee concert titled “The Thrill of the Orchestra.” Both concerts will be performed in the Bill Heard Theatre at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts.

Starting at 11:00 AM, the CSO presents a family matinee concert titled “The Thrill of the Orchestra” geared towards children and families looking for daytime, educational events during their time off from school. February 17th is a Teacher In-Service Day for Muscogee and surrounding school districts. Children and families can experience the “thrill” of the orchestra featuring music from The Lion King, Frozen, and Stars Wars. Russell Peck’s educational piece, The Thrill of the Orchestra, colorfully illustrates the instruments of the orchestra and how they are played.

At 7:30 PM, the CSO presents a Valentine’s themed pops concert titled “Can This Be Love?” This charming concert will offer music from popular film scores exploring every aspect of that undefinable emotion plus the usual high jinks. Highlights include music from West Side Story, Lion King, Casablanca, Frozen, James Bond, Lord of the Rings, Sleeping Beauty, and more.

“There is nothing quite like the sound of a symphony orchestra in full flight. Join us at the matinee to experience ‘The Thrill of the Orchestra’ and music from The Lion King, Frozen, and Star Wars. Let us introduce you to the magic of symphonic music,” said Music Director and Conductor, George Del Gobbo. “Music as an expression of love....it's like peanut butter and jelly, burgers and fries, bacon and just about anything. Music and love go together. Join us for a light-hearted look at this, and other, relationships at our concert “Can This Be Love?”

Tickets can be purchased online at csoga.org/tickets or in-person at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts located at 900 Broadway, Columbus, Ga. Monday through Friday, 10 AM to 5:30 PM (Broadway entrance).
