Bringing dynamic live music experiences to Columbus, Georgia since 1855.

Sponsor The Columbus Symphony Orchestra

sponsorships

The CSO was founded in 1855 by Felix Mendelssohn’s student, Herman S. Saroni, becoming the second orchestra formed in the United States and first orchestra in Georgia. What a legacy to have right here in our hometown.

As such we are one of the core pillars in Columbus’ rich and vibrant arts community. Each season we strive to build programs that are accessible to all members of the community, but also challenge the conventions of tradition. We produce concerts that educate and edify our community.

In addition we provide music education opportunities that serve those most in need in our communities. The CSO enhances the cultural landscape of the city, and bolsters the economy through employment and tourism.

When you invest in the Symphony you are investing in your community and its future. Sponsoring the CSO means bettering the quality of life experiences for you and your neighbors.

Why invest as a CSO sponsor?

The Columbus Symphony Orchestra (CSO) performs at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in downtown Columbus.

Through our performances we reach nearly 800 people from Columbus, Lagrange, Atlanta and the surrounding cities.

Each season we employ more than 100 musicians from all over the state of Georgia, and surrounding states in the southeast.

Through our education programs we reach nearly 500 students each season.

The majority of our patrons are between the ages of 40 - 75+ with expendable income.

Our email list reaches nearly 3000 people, and we have nearly 7,000 followers on social media.

Our Reach

When you sponsor the CSO our audience becomes your audience!

All of the programs listed below are available for sponsorship. Please email Kern Wadkins at kwadkins@csoga.org to learn more about how you can support the CSO through sponsorship.

Each season the Columbus Symphony Orchestra presents six to eight orchestral performances, including a variety of classical masterworks, contemporary pop favorites, chamber orchestra selections, and a series of educational and outreach concerts for local children and families.

The CSO offers a casual, pre-concert series led by Music Director and Conductor George Del Gobbo known as “Know the Score.” The program offers insight into the musical repertoire of each concert and background information about various composers.

The program is a great opportunity for teachers and school groups attending concerts as it can be utilized as a pre- concert, educational experience.

Open Rehearsals take place during the dress rehearsal of each Classical Series concert in Bill Heard Theatre and Legacy Hall.

It is free viewing of the orchestra in an informal setting that eliminates financial barriers and is inclusive for all.

It is perfect for families with small children, those with mobility difficulties, those who cannot afford the evening ticket prices or travel at night, and many other barriers that prevent community members from participating in our art. The rehearsals are conducted with the performance hall doors open and the house lights on to create a sensory-friendly environment for all.

Our Programs

Music Education Programs

The CSO’s Making Music Matters (M3) program plays a vital role to students in the Columbus area. M3 makes it possible for students to be involved with instrumental music, both as participants and listeners, at a high level and in a structured, disciplined manner.

In collaboration with the Girls Inc. of Columbus and Open Door Community House, Inc., the CSO provides free after-school group instrumental instruction to young children attending Title I schools within the Muscogee County School District.

Making Music Matters is designed to instill in them the discipline, powers of concentration, and teamwork necessary to be successful, not only in music but in life. It is teaching life skills through music.

making music matters

Orchestra Up Close brings small ensembles of CSO musicians into the classroom to present hour-long programs to small groups of children allowing for an “up close” experience that is not possible at larger concerts.

The musicians perform and talk about their instruments and children have the opportunity to make observations, ask questions, and, most importantly, to touch and play the variety of instruments in the CSO “instrument petting zoo.”
